Which Deployment is Right for You?

Choose Cloud When...

  • You want to get started quickly without infrastructure setup
  • You need automatic scaling for variable workloads
  • You prefer pay-as-you-go pricing with no upfront costs
  • You want zero maintenance and automatic updates
  • You need global distribution and low latency worldwide
  • You're building SaaS applications or web services

Choose On-Premise When...

  • You need complete control over data and infrastructure
  • You operate in air-gapped or isolated networks
  • You must comply with data sovereignty regulations
  • You have strict security and compliance requirements
  • You need ultra-low latency for real-time industrial control
  • You're deploying in industrial/OT environments

Hybrid Deployment

Get the best of both worlds by combining cloud and on-premise deployments. Process sensitive data locally while leveraging cloud for analytics and global distribution.

Edge Processing

Process critical data on-premise for low latency and compliance, then sync aggregated metrics to cloud for long-term analysis.

Multi-Region

Deploy on-premise in multiple facilities with cloud synchronization for global visibility and centralized dashboards.

Backup & DR

Use cloud as disaster recovery site for on-premise deployment with automated failover and continuous replication.

Migration Paths

Easily migrate between deployment models as your needs evolve

Cloud → On-Premise

Export your data from cloud and import into on-premise deployment with our migration tools.

  • 1.Export data in batches using CLI tool
  • 2.Deploy on-premise stack
  • 3.Import data with parallel workers
  • 4.Verify data integrity and switch endpoints

On-Premise → Cloud

Migrate from self-hosted to fully managed cloud for reduced operational overhead.

  • 1.Set up cloud instance with matching schema
  • 2.Enable continuous sync from on-premise
  • 3.Validate data replication
  • 4.Switch applications to cloud endpoint

Deployment FAQs

Can I run both cloud and on-premise simultaneously?

Yes! Hybrid deployments are fully supported. You can process data on-premise for compliance and low latency while using cloud for backup, analytics, or global distribution. Our sync tools make it easy to replicate data between environments.

What are the bandwidth requirements for cloud deployment?

Bandwidth needs depend on your ingestion rate. For example, 1000 sensors at 1Hz with ~100 bytes/sample = ~100 KB/s or ~25 TB/month. Cloud deployment uses compression and batching to minimize bandwidth. For high-volume scenarios, consider hybrid deployment with edge processing.

Can I switch between cloud and on-premise later?

Absolutely! We provide migration tools and documentation for both directions. Cloud to on-premise typically takes a few hours depending on data volume. On-premise to cloud can be done with zero downtime using continuous sync. Enterprise customers get dedicated migration support.

What cloud regions are available?

SchoBase cloud is deployed on Vercel's global edge network with automatic geo-routing. Your data is stored in the AWS region closest to your primary location. Available regions include US East, US West, EU (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and more. Enterprise customers can request specific regional deployments.

Is my data encrypted in both deployment models?

Yes! All data is encrypted both in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256-GCM). Cloud deployment uses AWS KMS for key management. On-premise deployments support KMS, HashiCorp Vault, or your own key management solution. Both support mutual TLS for device connections.

What's included in Enterprise Support?

Enterprise Support includes: 24/7 phone and email support with guaranteed SLA response times, dedicated Slack channel, on-site deployment assistance, custom training sessions, architecture reviews, priority bug fixes, early access to new features, and annual QBR meetings.
